Homestead from Angel Studios has made an estimated $6 million in its opening weekend, which places it in the box office top five.
Along with the film, two streaming episodes that continue the storyline were released on Angel.com and the Angel Studios’s app. The first streaming season will span eight episodes for Angel Guild members. Homestead the film is showing at 1,886 theaters.
“The film is on 1,410 fewer screens than the #4 film, and our box office numbers prove our audience is committed to going to theaters to kick-off an amazing cinematic experience,” Angel Studios Head of Theatrical Distribution Brandon Purdie said in a statement.

Homestead surrounds a post-apocalyptic storyline, based on the Black Autumn book series by Jason Ross and Kirkham, where a group attempts to find refuge in a homestead when a nuclear bomb threat looms over Los Angeles. The film stars Neal McDonough of Yellowstone and Band of Brothers fame.
McDonough recently toldthe Glenn Beck Program that there is a heightened interest in stories of hope and faith across the film industry.
“I was reading, they have the breakdown of all the studios of what they’re looking for … and never, ever, ever have I seen before, of the ten of them, 4 or 5 [studios] saying, ‘Oh by the way, if you have something of faith, we’re very interested this year,’” McDonough said. “Something’s changed.”

“Whether it’s Angel Studios, he added. “Whomever it is who’s going out there and putting it on the limb telling stories of faith, so the whole family can go to the theater together, grab popcorn, grab a soda, hang back watch a movie for two hours — and then after have a discussion with your 8-year-old or your 80-year-old.”
Angel Studios has over 100,000 Guild members in 155 countries that have donated some $80 million for their various projects. These members are also entrusted with voting on film projects. It began when company VidAngel, known for filtering film and series content, established a second company that became the studio in 2021.
