Gov. Jeff Landry (R-LA) hit back at Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger after the rock star threw a jab at him.

At a Thursday night concert, Jagger, 80, made a quip that Landry wanted to return the world to the Stone Age, a common accusation against Republicans by their opponents. Landry used the wording to get in an insult of his own, hitting Jagger’s age.

“You can’t always get what you want. The only person who might remember the Stone Age is @MickJagger,” Landry said before taking on a conciliatory tone. “Love you buddy, you’re always welcome in Louisiana!”

Jagger didn’t specify what policies he was criticizing but may have been referring to the state’s strict abortion laws. Landry supported the near-total abortion ban, which took effect after the repeal of Roe v. Wade.

After his band finished performing their hit song “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” at a New Orleans concert, Jagger began discussing inclusion, bringing up Landry.

“We want to include him too,” he said, according to local outlets. “Even if he wants to take us back to the Stone Age.”
