A missing woman was found inside a reticulated python after it swallowed her whole Friday in Indonesia.

The woman, known as Farida, 45, was reported missing since Thursday. She is survived by her husband and four children.

Kalempang villagers from the South Sulawesi province searched for her, finding her belongings left behind before they found the 16-foot python with a large stomach. Several men were involved in cutting the snake open to reveal Farida’s body fully dressed inside.

A python has several rows of curved teeth on the roof of its mouth, which it uses to grab its prey. Then, it wraps its body around the prey to suffocate it before swallowing it whole. Humans rarely become a python’s prey, but Farida is the fifth Indonesian person to be eaten by one of the snakes since 2017.

Pythons can grow to over 20 feet, making them the longest snake in the world. According to the Natural History Museum, London, the longest reticulated python on record, measured in 1912, was roughly 33 feet long.

The snakes are native to South Asia but have since been found in the United States as pets. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission estimates there are between 100,000 to 300,000 invasive Burmese Pythons living in the Everglades.
