Rep. Cory Mills (R-FL) announced the successful rescue of trapped American citizens from Haiti Tuesday as reports of gang violence and allegations of cannibalism continue to flow from the Caribbean nation.
“I am proud to report that my team and I were successful in evacuating and rescuing a trapped, and at risk group of Americans from ‘Have Faith Orphanage’ in Haiti last night,” Mills posted on X.
“This recent mission reiterates a disturbing reality that under President Biden’s leadership American lives are continually jeopardized.”
Mills, a United States Army combat veteran, was involved in multiple rescue missions in Afghanistan following the 2021 withdrawal, and the congressman said that Biden has shown a clear pattern of “abandonment” when it comes to Americans trapped in areas of conflict.
“I have conducted rescue/evacs of Americans multiple times when Joe Biden has deserted them. There’s a clear pattern of abandonment!” he said.
“Americans at home and abroad are more unsafe under Biden than ever before. We need President Trump back in the White House as the world can’t afford 4 more years of Biden’s failed administration.”
This latest effort from Mills and his team saw the rescue of at least 10 Americans from the Have Faith Orphanage in Port-au-Prince, according to a report.
Along with the coordinated effort by Mills and his team, the U.S. military was dispatched to Haiti over the weekend to strengthen security and airlift nonessential personnel out of the country, the report noted.
“We have no higher priority than the safety and security of US citizens overseas,” a spokesperson for the State Department said. “The US Embassy remains open with limited staffing and will continue to provide assistance to US citizens as necessary.”

The exact number of Americans still trying to leave amid the deteriorating security situation has yet to be confirmed.
“US citizens wishing to depart Port-au-Prince should monitor local news and information on security conditions from commercial transportation providers and should arrange to leave Haiti when security conditions and commercial transportation options permit doing so,” the spokesperson said.
