A single-engine aircraft crashed into a residential area in Florida, setting several mobile homes on fire and killing several people.
Clearwater, Florida’s fire chief, Scott Ehlers, announced that there were fatalities, some in the plane and some in the mobile homes, CNN reported. Videos posted on social media showed several trailers on fire amid the wreckage of the plane. The crash took place in Clearwater, a city on Florida’s west coast.
“We’re on scene of a small plane crash at a mobile home park south of Clearwater Mall,” the Clearwater Fire and Rescue Department said, attaching a video of the crash. “Multiple mobile homes have caught fire. Firefighters from multiple jurisdictions are on scene.”
The Federal Aviation Administration said it was unknown how many people were onboard the aircraft when it crashed but that the pilot reported an engine failure before it went down.

“A single-engine Beechcraft Bonanza V35 crashed into a residential area in Clearwater, Florida around 7 p.m. local time … Feb. 1, after the pilot reported an engine failure. It is not yet known how many people were on board,” the FAA said, per CBS News.
