Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump raised more than $50 million Saturday night at an event in Palm Beach, Florida.
The event, hosted by billionaire investor John Paulson, set a record for a single fundraiser, nearly doubling the money President Joe Biden’s campaign collected last week at Radio City Music Hall in New York, where he was joined by former Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.
“Tonight, we raised an historic $50.5 million for the re-election of President Trump,” Paulson said in a statement. “This sold-out event has raised the most in a single political fundraiser in history. This overwhelming support demonstrates the enthusiasm for President Trump and his policies.”
Among those who attended Trump’s event were hedge fund manager Robert Mercer, oil magnate Harold Hamm, hotelier Robert Bigelow, casino mogul Steve Wynn, and ex-2024 GOP presidential candidates Vivek Ramaswamy, Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), and Gov. Doug Burgum (R-ND).
“The success of tonight’s event is proving what we already know: Americans are fed up with Biden’s record of failure, from the open southern border and sky-high inflation to the migrant crime crisis that has made everyone less safe,” Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Whatley and Co-Chairwoman Lara Trump said in a statement. “The Republican Party is united behind the effort to elect President Donald J. Trump, and Americans are lining up to join our movement and retire Crooked Joe Biden once and for all.”
The fundraising haul was much-needed for Trump, who brought in almost $66 million last month, compared to Biden’s $90 million.
