Female celebrities from TV, film, and music made appearances at a get-out-the-vote rally in South Atlanta a week ahead of Election Day with a singular message for the largely Generation Z audience to vote, no matter what.

Grammy Award-winning artists Ciara, Kelly Rowland, and Victoria Monét, along with actresses Kerry Washington and Marsai Martin surprised several thousand rally-goers at When We All Vote’s event in College Park Tuesday evening.

Former first lady Michelle Obama founded the nonpartisan organization that aims to activate all voters, including first-timers.

“Our goal is not to tell people who to vote for but to instead encourage people to get registered, give them the information they need to cast their ballot, and to make sure they have — that they vote in every single election, every single election, not just presidential elections,” said Obama.

The R&B and hip-hop performers each took the stage ahead of Obama’s remarks inside the Gateway Center Arena at College Park.

“Starting right now, you have to do everything you can to show up on whatever candidates and issues you care about,” said Ciara. “That means we need to make a plan. We need to decide if we’re heading to the polls during the early voting period this week or if we’re going to vote next Tuesday on Election Day itself.”

Monét implored Gen Z attendees to vote, if not for themselves, for the next generation, adding that the “birthright” should not be taken for granted.

Washington applauded organizers across the Peach State as being the best organizers in the country.

“The legacy of this state is so fantastic. Do you know that even to this day your state Georiga is the blueprint for what good organizing looks like?” said Washington. “People from all over the country look to Georgia to figure out what tools and what techniques actually work to get out the vote.”

Former President Donald Trump is the Republican presidential nominee running against Vice President Kamala Harris for president on Nov. 5.
