Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene said on Friday that she believes Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-GA) will be able to win reelection for a second term this year based on the overperformance of the Democrat in the special runoff election for her former district this week.

Greene resigned from Congress earlier than expected this year over a public feud with President Donald Trump, leaving Georgia’s 14th Congressional District open for the taking. Republican Clay Fuller ultimately won Tuesday’s election against Democrat Shawn Harris, but the former congresswoman is concerned the latter’s narrow loss could spell trouble for Georgia Republicans in November.

“I think Ossoff is going to win,” Greene said in an interview with Politico reporter Dasha Burns, citing the Democratic incumbent’s polling numbers for the general election.

“If Shawn Harris was able to dig in that deep into a red district like my former district, that is definitely something to watch for in these other key races,” she said.

Harris was nearly 12 points behind Fuller, who secured just below 56% of the vote. That margin is much narrower than Greene’s victories in the past two elections.

In 2024, Greene defeated Harris by a 28.8-point margin. She also defeated Democratic opponent Marcus Flowers by a 31.8-point margin in 2022.

“I was never worried about my seat flipping blue,” she told Politico. “That was never a concern. It was never a reality, even though people tried to talk about it. That gigantic drop is really a danger, a big warning sign for statewide elections in 2026.”

Based on the trend of Democrats flipping Republican seats in state elections over the past year, Greene predicted her home state of Georgia could very well turn blue.

“I’ve been saying it all along that Republicans are going to get slaughtered in the midterms,” she said.

The ex-Trump ally was more confident that Democrats could regain control of the House this year, although she’s unsure about the Senate.

REPUBLICAN CLAY FULLER WINS GEORGIA HOUSE RACE TO REPLACE MARJORIE TAYLOR GREENE

Nine Republicans and five Democrats are represented in the Georgia House delegation, while Democrats Ossoff and Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA) hold both Senate seats in the state.

Fuller is replacing Greene to complete the rest of her term, which ends in January 2027. He is expected to run for a full term in November. The incoming congressman is scheduled to be sworn into office when Congress returns to session on April 14.
