Rep. Donald Payne (D-NJ) suffered a heart attack 11 days ago and has remained on a ventilator in the intensive care unit at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center.
Payne has been hospitalized since April 6 and has not regained consciousness since his heart attack.
The congressman’s condition is at odds with a previous update from his office which stated that his prognosis was “good and he is expected to make a full recovery.”
He has dealt with other health issues, including diabetes and kidney issues that require regular dialysis.
