Talk show host Bill Maher claimed Republican members of Congress are only ‘acting’ outraged over the border instead of solving it with a bill.
Maher dedicated a segment on his Friday episode of Real Time with Bill Maher to immigration while sitting with Gov. Chris Sununu (R-NH) and Fox News anchor Jessica Tarlov.
According to Sununu, President Joe Biden has a “very real” weakness when it comes to the border. Maher alleged that politicians generally are over-acting their responses to the issue, and called out Republican members of Congress and President Joe Biden.
“Immigration is real, but the reaction to it is not real,” Maher said. “It’s all a bunch of acting. They should be getting an award this awards season.”
The talk show host pointed to Sen. James Lankford’s (R-OK) negotiations with Democrats on a border bill that has been harshly criticized by other Republicans. A draft has yet to be released.
“The Republicans act like they want to solve this, but the Democrats called their bluff,” Maher said.
“But make no mistake about it, Joe Biden has a lot of power to change a lot of policy and affect the immigration issue,” Sununu said. The governor also disapproved of Congress, claiming “every one of them” deserved to be fired.

“That’s true,” Maher said. “I was gonna say part two of the acting is Joe Biden saying, ‘You know what? If you just give me a new law.’ A new law?! The president can fix this, and he already has an existing law. This is all so silly! ‘I need a piece of paper from Congress to deal with the border.’ No, you already have that.”
Over 10 million immigrants have reportedly entered the country illegally since Biden took office. It is the most recorded in that amount of time of any administration.
