The Democratic National Committee will release a video billboard in Eagle Pass, Texas, attacking former President Donald Trump as he visits the southern border.

Trump is slated to visit the border town on Thursday, which is the same day President Joe Biden plans to visit. The billboard campaign will criticize Trump for his stances on the border. Similar DNC ads will also run in the Eagle Pass News Leader.

“As president, Donald Trump broke the border,” the video’s subtitles read. “And now for pure politics, he’s killed the bipartisan border deal. Trump doesn’t care about securing the border. He only cares about himself.”

The video centers on the then-president’s policy to hold immigrant children in custody separate from their parents. It includes news coverage from the time. The ad ends with Trump’s own words.

“They’re blaming it on me,” Trump said of the disapproval surrounding the failed border security bill, which did not pass the Senate after he publicly criticized it. “I said that’s OK, please blame it on me. Please.”

Over 10 million immigrants reportedly have entered the country illegally since Biden took office. It is the most recorded in that amount of time of any administration.

Operation Lone Star, Texas’s own effort to secure the border since March 2021, has resulted in 497,600 apprehensions of illegal immigrants. Among them, 39,000 were arrested, with 35,200 felony charges. Officials have seized over 454 million lethal doses of fentanyl since the operation began.
