Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is again claiming that the United States hasn’t sent any significant weapons shipments to Israel in months.
Netanyahu previously claimed that there was a slowdown in weapons shipments but furthered his claim Sunday during a cabinet meeting, alleging that almost no weapons have been shipped by the U.S. for four months, a charge vehemently denied by the White House.
“For many weeks, we appealed to our American friends to speed up the shipments,” Netanyahu said, according to the Wall Street Journal. “We did it time and time again. We did this at the senior echelons, and at all levels, and I want to emphasize — we did it in private chambers. We got all kinds of explanations, but we didn’t get one thing: The basic situation didn’t change.”
He added that “certain items trickled in, but the bulk of armaments were left behind.”
A White House official made similar remarks to those made on Thursday by National Security Council spokesman John Kirby, telling the outlet that their position is clear.
“We have made our position clear on this repeatedly, and we aren’t going to keep responding to the Prime Minister’s political statements. We look forward to constructive consultations with Defense Minister Gallant in Washington this week,” they said.
Kirby went into further detail after Netanyahu’s first accusations on Thursday, expressing confusion.

Netanyahu’s video “was perplexing, to say the least, certainly disappointing, especially given that no other country is doing more to help Israel defend itself against the threat by Hamas, and quite frankly, other threats that they’re facing in the region than the United States,” Kirby said. “I think we’ve made it abundantly clear to our Israeli counterparts through various vehicles our deep disappointment in the statements expressed in that video and our concerns over the accuracy in the statements made.”
Tensions have reached an all-time high between Biden and Netanyahu amid Israel’s offensive into Rafah, which the Biden administration had warned against for months. Netanyahu is scheduled to address a joint session of Congress on July 24.
