President Joe Biden’s campaign is ramping up attacks related to Project 2025 after former President Donald Trump denounced the plan.
The Biden campaign pointed to a Project 2025 video in which Karoline Leavitt participated in September 2023, a few months before she became the Trump campaign’s national press secretary.
The Biden campaign implies in its post that the Trump campaign has involvement in Project 2025, but in an interview with the Washington Examiner, Leavitt said that isn’t true.
“I appeared in a video for Heritage the year before I started working on the Trump campaign,” Leavitt told the Washington Examiner. “Agenda 47 is the only official policy agenda of President Trump and our campaign. The media should instead be spending every waking minute trying to figure out who is actually running the country while Joe Biden’s in complete mental decline.”
The video, titled “Project 2025 Presidential Administration Academy,” was released while Leavitt was the spokeswoman for the Make America Great Again Inc. Super PAC, which contributes to and supports Trump. She appears after a slide that says, “Taught by Seasoned Leaders,” and states her former job as the Trump administration’s assistant press secretary. She’s also in the thumbnail for the video.
When asked about her involvement with Project 2025’s sponsor, The Heritage Foundation, she says, “They asked me to speak in a video to discuss my experience as a federal government political appointee. That is the extent of my involvement with them.”
While the video appears to imply Leavitt will teach in the program, she denied that.
The Washington Examiner reached out to the organization and the Biden campaign for comment but received no response.

Project 2025 is a conservative initiative from The Heritage Foundation that will “build on four pillars that will, collectively, pave the way for an effective conservative Administration,” and lay the groundwork for the next conservative president. The plan’s authors include some former Trump officials, and the Biden campaign has sought to associate the former president with it, given its more conservative policy on abortion and other issues.
Trump recently posted on Truth Social, saying, “I know nothing about Project 2025. I have no idea who is behind it. I disagree with some of the things they’re saying and some of the things they’re saying are absolutely ridiculous and abysmal. Anything they do, I wish them luck, but I have nothing to do with them.”
