President Joe Biden‘s personal attorney, Bob Bauer, would not say whether he is in favor of releasing the transcripts of the president’s interviews with Special Counsel Robert Hur, which has raised questions about Biden’s mental acuity.
In a scathing report issued last week, Hur detailed Biden’s “poor memory” in his rationale for why he decided against prosecuting the president over mishandling classified documents.
Bauer confirmed transcripts of the interviews exist but would not state if he is in favor of releasing them, while speaking on CBS News’s Face the Nation on Sunday.
“Yes, there are transcripts, and as you heard [White House Counsel spokesman] Ian Sams, in the press briefing room, say, you know, they’re discussions underway because it’s a classified document about what could or whether will be or when released. I can’t add anything to that today,” Bauer said.
When asked if he would like the transcripts released, Bauer refused to say.
“It’s really a decision that has to take place within the government. It’s a classified document,” Bauer said.
When pressed again, Bauer again refused to state whether or not he was in favor of releasing the transcript.
“Again, there’s a process underway. I’m not a specialist in that process. And so I really have to defer to those who have to work through those issues,” he said.

Bauer claims that during the interviews, Biden “picked apart” Hur’s questions and that the president’s interviews were cherry-picked by Hur “in a very misleading way.”
“He engaged, he answered the questions, and the special counsel’s decision to cherry-pick, in a very misleading way, some of the references that you’re discussing here is an example of what I call a really shabby work product and completely out of bounds for a prosecutor,” Bauer said.
