President Joe Biden’s popularity in the deep-blue state of Colorado has dropped off ahead of the state’s primary next month.

The latest poll by Global Strategy Group, which surveyed 801 registered voters in Colorado, reveals that Biden’s favorability has declined since 2022. Among registered voters, Biden is viewed favorably by 40%, compared to 58% who view the Democratic president unfavorably.

Biden still holds likeability over former President Donald Trump in the Centennial State. Only 36% of voters favor the Republican front-runner, compared to 62% who dislike the candidate.

Biden won 55.4% of the vote in Colorado in 2020, while Trump gathered 41.9% of the vote. In 2016, the margins were closer; Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton secured Colorado with 47.2% of the vote compared to Trump’s 44.4%.

Ten months out from the November election, 49% say they would support Biden, while 41% favor Trump, showing Biden’s lead over Trump has dropped by 5.5 points since 2020.

Colorado is at the center of a Supreme Court case that’ll determine whether Trump is eligible to appear on the state’s Republican primary ballot. In December, the Colorado Supreme Court sided with voters who argued Trump couldn’t hold office for his alleged involvement in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot. Colorado voters cited Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, which prohibits anyone who has “engaged in insurrection” from holding office.

The Global Strategy Group survey found that 56% approve of the Colorado court’s ruling, while 44% disapprove. Sixty-one percent of Colorado voters think Trump engaged in an insurrection three years ago, and 40% think he did not.

The poll was conducted from Jan. 22-28 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
