Colin Jost of Saturday Night Live wasted no time in poking fun at President Joe Biden on Saturday night at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
White House Correspondents’ Association President Kelly O’Donnell introduced the host of the event by displaying some of his high school newspaper clips, which Jost thanked her for upon taking the podium.
“It’s not really fair,” Jost said. “You can’t do it for President Biden because the technology wasn’t invented when he was in high school.”
Jost, who spoke after Biden, said he was excited to be on stage with the president “mostly to see if I could figure out where Obama was pulling the strings from” but that it’s not always easy following him.
“I mean it’s not always easy following what he’s saying,” Jost said.
Backing off of Biden, the SNL “Weekend Update” host asked the crowd of journalists and celebrities to acknowledge “how refreshing it is to see a president of the United States at an event that doesn’t begin with a bailiff saying, ‘All rise,’” before offering some analysis of former President Donald Trump’s trial.
“I would like to point out it’s after 10 p.m. — Sleepy Joe is still awake while Donald Trump has spent the past week in court every morning,” Jost said.
Jost also touched on some polling numbers ahead of Biden and Trump’s 2024 general election rematch, telling the audience his “Weekend Update” co-host Michael Che was going to join him, “but in solidarity with President Biden, I decided to lose all my black support.”
Still, he summarized November’s contest between Biden and Trump as one in which “the Republican candidate for president owes half a billion in fines for bank fraud and is currently spending his days farting himself awake during a porn star hush money trial, and the race is tied.”
“Nothing makes sense anymore,” Jost said before juxtaposing Trump, “a famous New York City playboy” who “took abortion rights away” with Biden, an 81-year-old Catholic “who’s trying to give you your abortion rights back.”
He even dragged Robert F. Kennedy Jr. into the mix, tying the independent presidential candidate’s anti-vaccine stance to his 2024 campaign.
“Like his vaccine card says, he doesn’t have a shot,” Jost said.
Perhaps Jost’s proudest moment was a joke about the cocaine found at the White House last year, which he said he left there the last time he was in Washington.

“Luckily, the president was able to put it to good use for his State of the Union” address, Jost said. “I’m kidding, of course. The president doesn’t call it cocaine — he calls it high-speed rail. By the way, can you blame the guy for turning to cocaine? He must be exhausted orchestrating four separate trials against his rival, rigging the Super Bowl, and gearing up to steal a second election. Wow.”
After a long pause, he added, “Biden laughed,” as C-SPAN cameras showed the gleeful president.
