Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) questioned who was in charge of the presidency after President Joe Biden denied declaring Easter Sunday the Transgender Day of Visibility.

In an appearance on the Greater Miami Expressway Agency, DeSantis interpreted Biden’s denial as indicating he wasn’t actually in charge of the presidency — a common accusation leveled against the 81-year-old by Republicans.

“Wait a minute, he said that didn’t happen. He said he didn’t do that,” DeSantis said. “Which raises the question that he’s either not being honest with the public, or he really didn’t know what was going on.”

“Who’s running the presidency? Is it a bunch of ‘woke,’ 20-something-year-old White House staffers? So, I don’t know who’s in charge. The fact that he’s not owning up to it — either way, it’s bad,” he added.

After proclaiming Easter Sunday as Transgender Visibility Day, Biden denied doing so on Monday.

“I didn’t do that,” he said of the designation, and he added that House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) was “thoroughly uninformed” in accusing him of doing as much.

A statement from the White House, obtained by Fox News, backed Biden’s defense by pointing out that March 31 has been the Transgender Day of Visibility since 2009.

“President Biden is right. He did nothing in conflict with the ‘tenets’ of Easter, which he celebrated yesterday. Nor did he choose the date of March 31 for Transgender Day of Visibility, which has been set since 2009,” White House spokesman Andrew Bates said.
