Hollywood stars and former President Barack Obama are expected to help enrich President Joe Biden’s campaign coffers at a Los Angeles fundraiser in June.

The event looks to extend Biden’s fundraising advantage over former President Donald Trump, and mirrors a recent New York City event that saw Obama and former President Bill Clinton show up.

The New York event raised a record $26 million for the Biden campaign, and a Los Angeles event could challenge that with several high-profile celebrities on display, such as George Clooney and Julia Roberts. Obama’s repeat attendance at a Biden fundraiser is sure to boost the event as well, given his popularity with voters.

Republicans are still trailing Democrats in fundraising by about $25 million in March. However, an April 6 fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago, with several billionaires in attendance, raised $50.5 million for Trump.

At the event, a campaign spokesperson said Trump emphasized his need to move back into the White House to focus on “key issues including unleashing energy production, securing our southern border, reducing inflation, extending the Trump Tax Cuts, eliminating Joe Biden’s insane EV mandate, protecting Israel, and avoiding global war.”

Democrats have long held good relations with Hollywood and the movie industry as a whole in California. Deep-pocketed and high-profile celebrities have played to their fundraising advantage before, and the party will use that with the large California event.
