Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) doubled down on his vision for the United States, one “not filled with victims,” which is what he claims the Biden administration has created.
Scott appeared on State of the Union on Sunday to address his recent endorsement of former President Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential race. Host Dana Bash asked Scott if previous comments about “victory” over “victimhood” and “greatness” over “grievance,” which he made while still campaigning for his own chance at the GOP nomination, were directed at Trump at the time.
“We absolutely, positively, unequivocally need an America that’s not filled with victims. I’m actually talking about how Joe Biden has destroyed our economy and made victims out of people waiting for the government to show up. I’m talking about having a president who’s weaponizing the DOJ against political adversaries,” Scott said. “And so when I think about bringing this country together, not under grievance, but over greatness, not being victims, but being victorious, I am talking about the future of this nation and politicians who get in the way of that today, that’s Joe Biden.”
The South Carolina senator has long alleged that the Department of Justice is “weaponized” against Trump, even while they were will political opponents. As a result, Scott relented that “there’s no doubt [Trump’s] been aggrieved.”

“The question is: What are the American voters looking for?” Scott said. “Here’s what they’re looking for: They are looking for a president who represents their best future and not his. That president is not Joe Biden, it is Donald Trump.”
With former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley still in the race, Scott’s endorsement for Trump came as a shock. Scott clarified during his interview that he contacted Haley to inform her of his announcement the day before he made it.
