Former President Donald Trump, on Saturday, slammed President Joe Biden for the several criminal and civil indictments against him launched by the Department of Justice but joked that they have strengthened his support heading into the 2024 election.
“It’s hard to say it’s good to be indicted, but it sure as hell has helped the polls,” Trump said to a rally of supporters in Conway, South Carolina.
Trump said that “Biden is bad for democracy because he is grossly incompetent,” referencing Democrats as a “group of fascists that are destroying our country.”
“He uses DOJ and FBI and everything you can to go after an opponent, and nothing has ever happened like that in this country,” said Trump. “I think it’s reverberating against him.”
On Saturday morning, Trump posted on Truth Social a scathing criticism of the “two tiered justice system” in response to Special Counsel Robert Hur dropping the investigation into Biden’s mishandling of classified documents. Earlier in the week, Trump called for Special Counsel Jack Smith to drop the charges against him for holding classified documents in Mar-a-Lago.
Trump reinforced in his speech his campaign’s sweeping victories in the Nevada, New Hampshire, and Iowa primaries, saying that he did not face “much competition” from within the Republican field.
An NBC News poll from this month found that Trump has a 20-point lead over Biden in handling the economy and a 30-point lead in dealing with immigration and border issues.

The former president also has a 16-point advantage over Biden when voters are asked who is more competent and effective.
“They said, ‘How do we get this guy out?’ What they’re trying to do is use the Justice Department, the local DAs, the Attorney Generals, but nothing’s going to work,” said Trump. “We’re doing a great job.”
