The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will send out its remaining February payments, worth up to $1,751, to Montana residents on Tuesday.

A household of one can receive a maximum of $291, a household of five can receive up to $1,155, and a household of eight can receive a maximum of $1,751. For each additional person, a household can receive up to $219. These amounts are based on the recent cost-of-living adjustments for 2023-24.

To qualify for SNAP payments in Montana, a single-person household cannot have a net monthly income exceeding $1,215, and an eight-person household cannot have a net monthly income exceeding $4,214.

SNAP benefits can be used at participating locations, including farmers markets and grocery stores. The payments are automatically loaded on an electronic benefits transfer card every month. In Montana, the EBT card is called a Montana Access Card.

The money is intended for purchasing groceries, snacks, fresh food, seeds, and plants. SNAP benefits cannot be used to buy nonfood household items, tobacco products, alcohol, pet food, or prepared foods.
