Molinaro, who was presiding over the House of Representatives, tried to quiet Democrats during Rep. Anna Paulina Luna’s (R-FL) remarks in favor of the stopgap funding bill.
A C-SPAN video showed Molinaro hardly slamming the gavel three times, with the last hit prompting lawmakers in the chamber to holler and shout in surprise.
He then used the microphone at the speaker’s stand to say, “The House will be in order, the House will be in order.”
Tensions are running high in the House.

A short time later, the House overwhelmingly rejected the bill to extend government funding into next year. Lawmakers now have to return to the drawing board just one day before federal funding is scheduled to lapse for a slew of government agencies.
Lawmakers voted 174-235 against the funding package, failing to reach the two-thirds majority vote needed to pass the lower chamber after nearly all Democrats and 38 Republicans opposed the measure.
