The California exodus is indeed a thing, so much so that there have been in-depth studies and reports done on it over the last several years to determine the exact reasons why, reasons that are obvious to just about everyone apparently except for the state’s Governor Gavin Newsom, who has never met a woke piece of legislation he didn’t like unless it was something he felt could be used against him in a potential 2024 presidential run.

During an interview he did with Vox Media’s Kara Swisher and former U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara at the Code Conference in Los Angeles in early September, Newsom was asked by Bharara “are more people leaving California for Texas, or are more people leaving Texas for California?”

After a short back and forth about exactly how many have left the state, Bharara asked Newsom if he could explain the reason behind the mass exodus.

His answer? Blame former President Donald Trump because of course:

I know Newsom relishes residing in fantasyland and also enjoys the luxury of a dutifully compliant state and national press that rarely challenges him, but this is just straight-up bull. One doesn’t need to take my word for it, either.

As recently as July, even the Democrat apologists at the Los Angeles Times wrote a report on why people were leaving and – shocker of shockers – the main reasons people were packing up and moving out of California in record numbers were the high cost of living including outrageously high home prices, rising violent crime including deadly smash and grabs, and out of control homelessness:

Citing changes in work-life balance, opportunities for remote work and more people deciding to quit their jobs, the report found that droves of Californians are leaving for states like Texas, Virginia, Washington and Florida. California lost more than 352,000 residents between April 2020 and January 2022, according to California Department of Finance statistics.

San Francisco and Los Angeles rank first and second in the country, respectively, for outbound moves as the cost of living and housing prices continue to balloon and homeowners flee to less expensive cities, according to a report from Redfin released this month.

The state is also seeing a dwindling middle class, said [UCLA economics professor Lee] Ohanian, who cited a report from the National Assn. of Realtors, outlining that the national median home sales price has reached $416,000, a record high. Meanwhile, California’s median home price has topped $800,000.

“[California is] at a risk for becoming a state for very, very wealthy people and very, very low earners who receive state and local and federal aid that allows them to be able to live here,” Ohanian said. “We should worry about those in the middle who are earning that $78,000 household median income and is, at the end of the day, really struggling, especially if they have interest in buying a home.”

California has also become the state in the country most known for the ongoing homeless crisis that Newsom has done absolutely nothing about, not since his time as a San Francisco Supervisor, not during his time as the city’s mayor, not when he was Lt. Gov., and now when he’s the Governor. Not surprisingly, Newsom has also blamed the homeless problem on Trump, and continues to lie about it though he was even fact-checked by the liberal hacks at Politifact who gave him a “Pants on Fire” rating for some of his ridiculous claims.

Gavin Newsom loves to talk tough when it comes to the major issues that continue to plague California, but when the rubber meets the road, Newsom – like other woke CA Dems – would rather look the other way and clink glasses at the French Laundry while the subjects he rules over struggle to make ends meet.

Simply put, the facts don’t care about Gavin Newsom’s feelings. Radical Democrat policies, many of which he has either had a direct hand in or presided over, have run California into the ground and have forced many of its residents to seek greener pastures. And you can rest assured that these inconvenient facts will be mercilessly dropped one by one on Newsom by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, whose state has been one of the main beneficiaries of the exodus from deeply blue states like California and New York, in the event they meet in a presidential election year match-up.
