The newest documentary series from Fox Nation features actor Kevin Costner on a journey into some of the nation’s most beautiful national parks, as well as one former U.S. president’s mission to preserve the country’s frontier.

The three-part series, titled Yellowstone to Yosemite with Kevin Costner, follows Costner as he explores the history of former President Theodore Roosevelt‘s 1903 Yosemite expedition with naturalist and environmental advocate John Muir. During their journey, Muir informed the president of the need to preserve the nation’s beautiful lands and forests, which eventually paved the way for Roosevelt to create a more structured National Park System, including five national parks and 150 national forests, during his presidency.

“They didn’t set out to change America, but that’s what ended up happening,” Costner says in the first episode, looking out at the beauty of Yosemite National Park. “This is where it all started.”

Costner has reflected on how Roosevelt and Muir’s camping trip was “stranger than fiction” but still true, adding that their journey improved the nation and the world.

“The story of President Teddy Roosevelt and John Muir’s camping trip through Yosemite is one of those truly special ones, and I’m excited to dig into the next chapter of the preservation of the American frontier,” Costner said.

This documentary series is not the first time Costner collaborated with Fox Nation. He previously hosted Yellowstone: One-Fifty, which premiered on the streaming platform in 2022 and was released to celebrate Yellowstone National Park’s 150th anniversary. Costner also starred in the Yellowstone TV series, one of his recent well-known roles, which ran for five seasons between 2018 and 2024.

Yellowstone to Yosemite with Kevin Costner is meant to kick off Fox Nation’s “America 250” campaign, which will be launched on July 4, 2026, to celebrate the United States’s 250th anniversary.

Ahead of the nation’s landmark anniversary, President Donald Trump established Task Force 250 to properly prepare for celebrations. The 250th anniversary of the U.S. is one of several historic events set to take place during Trump’s second presidency, including co-hosting the 2026 FIFA World Cup with Canada and Mexico and the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, California.
