Charges may soon be filed against several people considered responsible for supplying actor Matthew Perry with the ketamine that led to his death last October, according to several reports.

The Los Angeles Police Department began working with the Drug Enforcement Administration in May to investigate the source of Perry’s ketamine. A source told People that police believe “multiple people” should be charged in his death, but the U.S. Attorney’s Office will make that decision.

The Friends star died at the age of 54 at his home on Oct. 28. He was found unresponsive in his pool. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office determined his cause of death to be acute effects of ketamine with contributing factors including the effects of buprenorphine, a drug used to treat opioid use disorder, drowning, and coronary artery disease.

Since the 1990s, Perry has struggled with his drug and alcohol addiction, but prior to his death, he had been clean for 19 months. He was receiving ketamine infusion therapy to treat depression and anxiety, receiving his last treatment a week and a half before his death. However, the medical examiner said the levels of ketamine were still quite high, making it unlikely that his infusions were the source since the body metabolizes it within hours.
