EXCLUSIVE — Former President Donald Trump’s campaign will host several “angel” families of people killed by illegal immigrants at the Republican National Committee’s convention next week as it seeks to focus voter attention on “Biden migrant crime,” the Washington Examiner has learned.

The RNC convention will feature a “few” families and loved ones of U.S. citizens who were slain by people who were in the country illegally, according to a source familiar with plans.

One such family in attendance will be that of Rachel Morin, a 37-year-old Maryland resident and mother of five who was sexually assaulted and killed last August while on a jog. The suspect, illegal immigrant Victor Martinez-Hernandez of El Salvador, was arrested this month by police in Oklahoma.

“We are honored that Rachel Morin’s loved ones will address the nation at our Republican National Convention and give Rachel’s story the respect and attention it deserves, as it shows all Americans why we need President Trump to secure our border, deport illegal immigrants who commit crimes against innocent Americans, and make America safe again,” Danielle Alvarez, a senior adviser for the Trump campaign, said in a statement Thursday.

Trump went on the offensive during his first debate with President Joe Biden in late June and attempted to connect the Democratic administration’s border policies directly to a wave of headlines on crime committed by illegal immigrants.

“We are living right now in a rat’s nest. They’re killing our people in New York, in California, and every state in the union because we don’t have borders anymore. Every state is now a border,” Trump said. “Because of his ridiculous, insane, and very stupid policies, people are coming in, and they’re killing our citizens at a level that we’ve never seen. We call it migrant crime. I call it Biden migrant crime.”

The death of Georgia nursing student Laken Riley earlier this year became so politically explosive that Biden mentioned her at his State of the Union.

In late June, Oklahoma police arrested a Venezuelan illegal immigrant believed to have brutally killed Morin.

Other incidents, including attacks on New York police plus sexual assaults and homicides against preteen girls and single women in Texas and Iowa, have also attracted media coverage.

The Biden administration has admitted well over 5 million illegal immigrants into the United States, and another nearly 2 million illegal immigrants have been observed sneaking into the country, according to a House Judiciary Committee report released last week.

In total, more than 9 million people have been encountered at the nation’s borders since February 2021.
