Long before he was moving toward a run for the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination, California Gov. Gavin Newsom was making a different kind of headline as San Francisco’s mayor.
The progressive Democrat, leading one of the country’s most progressively Democratic cities, set tongues wagging in the first decade of this century by dating a woman literally young enough to be his daughter.
In fact, Newsom, at 39, was twice as old as his 19-year-old paramour, according to reports published at the time.
