The stalemate is centered on Democratic demands to attach Obamacare subsidies to House Speaker Mike Johnson’s (R-LA) continuing resolution to keep the government open. Republicans criticized Jeffries last week for refusing to consider an offer that would grant a one-year extension of expiring Obamacare subsidies instead of the permanent extension he is demanding.
