In the weeks following an election cycle that utilized podcasts to rally voters, Apple released a ranking of its popular shows from this year. This was the first year that comedian Joe Rogan had his podcast on the platform in the last three years. His show was the third most popular podcast after Crime Junkie and The Daily.
Still, Rogan’s episode with President-elect Donald Trump in the days before the Nov. 5 election was the second-most popular episode across all Apple podcasts and the fifth most shared. The Daily‘s episode following Trump’s debate against Vice President Kamala Harris was ranked third in popularity, while its episode on musician Taylor Swift was the third most shared.
While this ranking includes 100 countries, Apple’s subscribers make up less than a third of the music streaming market share, while Spotify’s 252 million subscribers make up 36%.

On Spotify, Rogan’s podcast is ranked the No. 1 podcast on the U.S. chart as of Monday. The Daily didn’t even make the top ten. Three of the top ten episodes come from Rogan, while The Daily didn’t have any episodes in the top 20.
Both Trump and Harris appeared on several podcasts as the respective shows’ first-time presidential candidates. Harris was invited onto every podcast that Trump appeared on but did not fit in any interviews before the election. Rogan said her campaign team only wanted an edited, hourlong episode, even though his episode with Trump was nearly three hours long and unedited.
