Billionaire hedge fund manager Bill Ackman praised President-elect Donald Trump for enlisting “dream team” billionaire Elon Musk and tech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy for co-leading a proposed Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, to eliminate government waste through slashing government spending.
“I call it the ‘dream team.’ I’m super impressed. We have Elon Musk and a good friend of mine Vivek Ramaswamy, who is incredibly talented,” Ackman said in an interview with SiriusXM host Megyn Kelly.
He continued, “I’ve been super impressed with all of the picks so far.”
Ackman said he’s encouraged that the president now has the benefits of Musk’s talents to help him with D.O.G.E. and that it’s an “incredible home run.”
The billionaire praised Musk as a “great American.” He said the SpaceX executive has had an enormous consequential impact on society in his innovative efforts to create an electric car, his work in space, Neuralink, and artificial intelligence.
“I would say [Musk] is the most important figure of our time, ” Ackman said to Kelly.
Ackman explained how Musk and Ramaswamy’s work is needed to reform the government.
“Everyone knows that the government is one of the most ineffective bureaucracies in the world,” he said, adding, “Now we have an opportunity not just to find cost savings and actually operate more effectively.”
Trump announced on Tuesday his plans to “dismantle government bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies.”

“Together, these two wonderful Americans will pave the way for my Administration to dismantle Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies – Essential to the ‘Save America’ Movement,” Trump wrote in his announcement. “I look forward to Elon and Vivek making changes to the Federal Bureaucracy with an eye on efficiency and, at the same time, making life better for all Americans.”
Musk and Ramaswamy launched the X account @DOGE for the proposed department.
