Activist Greta Thunberg was arrested Saturday in her home country of Sweden for joining a protest outside the filming of the Eurovision finale, which included an Israeli singer.

Thunberg was among the protesters on the third day of demonstrations against Eden Golan, who will perform the song “Hurricane” during the final round of the competition. This year is the 68th Eurovision Song Contest, and it is taking place at Malmö Arena.

“Yesterday we were tens of thousands people flooding the streets of Malmö,” Thunberg wrote of the protests Friday. “We will not accept that a country currently committing genocide is allowed a platform to artwash themselves. The world cannot remain silent in a genocide. Everyone who can must use their voice and speak up against Israel’s crimes and occupation.”

This arrest is Thunberg’s fourth since October 2023. She has traveled across Europe to advocate the environment. She was most recently arrested last month along the A12 motorway in The Hague in protest of Dutch tax breaks to fossil fuel companies. Thunberg’s arrest previous to that one came during a protest outside the Swedish Parliament building in March.

Still, the European Broadcasting Union, Eurovision’s showrunner, has stood by its decision to allow Golan and Israeli broadcaster Kan to participate in the contest.
