A police investigation has cleared Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) of domestic violence accusations from her ex-husband after his arrest following a restaurant altercation Saturday.
The Associated Press reported Boebert’s ex-husband, Jayson Boebert, was arrested Tuesday for third-degree criminal trespass, criminal obstruction, and disorderly conduct, all related to the Miner’s Claim restaurant incident in Silt, Colorado, but he was released the same day.
Jayson Boebert alleged that his ex-wife punched him in the face, and he later denied his own statement, according to Silt police.
However, no one came forward as a witness, and no footage of the incident could be recovered.
“Due to a lack of any evidence, the allegations of domestic violence against Rep. Lauren Boebert are unfounded and the investigation into Rep. Lauren Boebert is closed,” Silt police told the outlet.
Jayson Boebert had previously told the Denver Post he called the Silt Police Department to say he did not want to press charges.
“Her and I were working through a difficult conversation,” Jayson Boebert told them.
Lauren Boebert released a statement saying she did not cause physical harm to her ex-husband and planned to talk to her lawyer regarding the altercation and any future legal action.
The Colorado Sun reported Jayson Boebert was also involved in a physical altercation with his son Tyler Boebert on Jan. 9, causing his son to call the police after his father picked up a rifle.
Jayson Boebert was apprehended by Garfield County sheriff’s deputies for allegedly engaging in prohibited use of a weapon, harassment, and third-degree assault, as outlined in the arrest affidavit.
This is not the first time the congresswoman’s personal life has been brought to light in the public sphere.

The Associated Press reported in September she was kicked out of a play, along with her guest, for “causing a disturbance” by vaping and singing.
Boebert had denied the vaping accusations, though footage appeared to show the allegations to be accurate, and in a statement to the Associated Press, her campaign manager said she was “singing along, laughing and enjoying herself.”
