Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) is leading a task force dedicated to declassifying federal secrets such as records about the assassination of former President John F. Kennedy, her office confirmed to the Washington Examiner.
The task force is also expected to focus on files related to Jeffrey Epstein, the assassinations of Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert F. Kennedy, and the origins of COVID-19 and UFOs.
“We have spent years seeking information on the assassinations of President Kennedy, Senator Kennedy, Reverend King, and other government secrets without success,” Luna said. “It is time to give Americans the answers they deserve, which is why I am honored to lead this bipartisan task force that seeks truth and transparency.”
Rep. James Comer (R-KY), House Oversight Committee chairman, appointed Luna the chairwoman of the “Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets.” The task force will be authorized for 6 months, and additional members will be announced in the coming weeks.
“For too long, the federal government has kept information of public interest classified, and the American people are demanding greater transparency. This secrecy has sowed distrust in our institutions,” Comer said, adding that the task force will “build on the Trump administration’s efforts to declassify records of national importance and ensure Americans get the answers they deserve.”
“Rep. Luna is committed to shining a light on the truth and ending the era of secrecy,” Comer said. “It’s time to let the sunlight in and finally provide answers the American public has long demanded.”
The task force has already begun its work, with Luna and Comer sending letters to the State Department, Department of Energy, and the CIA for files relating to the origins of COVID-19.
They’ve also requested files relating to the JFK, MLK, and RFK assassinations, 9/11, and Epstein.
President Donald Trump issued an executive order last month directing agencies to declassify the JFK, RFK, and MLK files.

“Their families and the American people deserve transparency and truth. It is in the national interest to finally release all records related to these assassinations without delay,” he wrote.
The FBI recently discovered 2,400 files relating to the JFK assassination that were not assigned to a board tasked with dealing with them. The FBI has found approximately 14,000 pages of documents relating to the assassination.
