Former NFL coach Tony Dungy took a veiled swipe at Taylor Swift for distracting from the NFL football games that she attends.
Dungy was asked about Swift’s influence since she began dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Swift has now attended several games and watched from a box while dressed in Chiefs red.
“That’s the thing that’s disenchanting people with sports now,” Dungy said. “There’s so much on the outside coming in. Entertainment value and different things. Taking away from what really happens on the field.”
At the Golden Globes earlier this month, host Jo Koy seemingly agreed in a joke about Swift not receiving as many camera shots during the award ceremony as she does during a Chiefs game. When the camera cut to the singer, she took a sip of her drink without laughing.

The Chiefs won their first game in the playoffs Saturday, inching closer to qualifying for Super Bowl LVIII. Swift was in the audience at the time.
Since 2019, Swift has made some $400 million in her song releases, $370 million in concert ticket sales and subsequent merchandise, and another $80 million in royalties from her musical catalog. This led to her reaching billionaire status in 2023 in music and performances alone.
