Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) is facing a censure resolution for comments she made about Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX), nicknaming him “Gov. Hot Wheels.”

The comment drew widespread criticism from Republicans who called her comment discriminatory, as Abbott uses a wheelchair.

Rep. Randy Weber (R-TX) is introducing the censure resolution this week, his office told the Washington Examiner.

“The story of our great Governor of Texas is one of unwavering resilience and perseverance,” Weber said in a statement. “Meanwhile, the actions of Jasmine Crockett—stooping to vile levels of discrimination and despicable political attacks—are nothing short of reprehensible. She must be censured and held accountable for the venomous rhetoric she spews as a representative of the Democratic Party.”

“It’s painfully obvious she was never taught a single thing about Texas class, as her behavior is a disgrace to everything Texas and the United States stands for,” he added.

The Washington Examiner obtained the text of the censure resolution. In it, Weber says Crockett’s comments, including that Abbott is a “hot a** mess,” are “discriminatory in nature” and “are the latest in a continued series of inappropriate comments expressed by [Crockett].”

Weber referenced Crockett’s “bleach-blonde, bad-built, butch-body” comments against Rep. Marjorie Taylor-Greene (R-GA) in a May 2024 Oversight Committee hearing. Her words, and her argument against Greene, went viral online.

Crockett made her comments about Abbott during a Human Rights Campaign banquet over the weekend.

“Y’all know we got Gov. Hot Wheels down there — come on now! And the only thing hot about him is that he is a hot a** mess, honey,” Crockett said.

She justified her actions in a post on X, saying she wasn’t speaking about his physical condition but his actions.

TRACKING WHAT DOGE IS DOING ACROSS THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT

“I wasn’t thinking about the governor’s condition — I was thinking about the planes, trains, and automobiles he used to transfer migrants into communities led by black mayors, deliberately stoking tension and fear among the most vulnerable,” she said on Tuesday. “Literally, the next line I said was that he was a ‘hot a** mess,’ referencing his terrible policies.”

“At no point did I mention or allude to his condition,” she added. “So, I’m even more appalled that the very people who unequivocally support Trump, a man known for racially insensitive nicknames and mocking those with disabilities, are now outraged.”

Crockett said her opponents should stop “obsessing over and hanging on to my every word” and that the controversy served as a distraction.
