Republican National Committee co-chairman Michael Whatley stressed the need for his party to ensure there is no fraud in the 2024 election, revealing it has surpassed one of its goals in such an effort.

Whatley explained that part of the RNC’s work to underscore election integrity has included several lawsuits seeking to ensure voters need a form of identification when they cast their vote, which he argued would prevent illegal immigrants from voting this November. He also detailed how he and RNC co-chairwoman Lara Trump have vowed to recruit over 100,000 volunteers for its Protect the Vote program.

“I’m happy to say that we’ve already got 157,000 volunteers who have registered for that program,” Whatley said on Fox News’s Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo. “We’re going to continue to push for the next 87 days to make sure that we have the biggest, most robust national election integrity program in the history of the country.”

Whatley also praised Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R-VA) for making an executive order to “protect legal voters and accurate counts,” arguing that he and other Republican lawmakers are making sure it will be “easy to vote and hard to cheat” this November. He also referenced Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose’s work to keep the election secure.

“So we have leaders right now, and we need every state to follow them,” Whatley said.

The RNC co-chairman also knocked Vice President Kamala Harris for making a U-turn on multiple policies she initially was opposed to, including fracking and shutting down the border. Whatley argued “her flip flops are coming at an amazing rate,” and wondered if she was being genuine or was simply changing her views to help secure her victory in the upcoming election.

Harris and Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) became the Democratic Party’s 2024 presidential ticket this month, a few weeks after President Joe Biden bowed out of his reelection bid in July. After the president’s historic decision, Lara Trump contended that Harris would not pose too much of a challenge to former President Donald Trump due to how attached Harris is to Biden and his leadership.

The most recent polling data indicated that Harris is leading Trump by four percentage points in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, all of which are states Biden won in the 2020 electoral college. All three results were within the margin of error for the polls, and polled under 700 likely voters in each state.
