At least one person died Thursday morning following a 118-mile high-speed police chase throughout West Virginia, authorities said.
The incident began when an officer noticed a suspicious person wearing a wig, mask, and hat inside a parked vehicle, New Martinsville Police Chief Tim Cecil said.

A background check was performed, and authorities discovered the driver, identified by police as Devin Stevenson, had four arrest warrants attached to his name, according to a report.
Officers approached the vehicle and ordered the driver out of the car.
Rather than comply, the driver sped away, initiating a high-speed chase that would cover roughly 118 miles.
The chase, which began in New Martinsville, ended in Moundsville when the driver crashed.
Authorities said the driver armed himself with a firearm and fled down a nearby hill on foot.
When officers caught up to the driver, they found him dead as a result of suspected suicide.
