At least three people have been killed in a mass shooting in Southeast Washington, D.C., according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
The shooting happened just before 9 p.m. EST, in the 1600 block of Good Hope Road in Anacostia.
Police said a total of five people were shot, with two individuals requiring transportation to an area hospital.
Two men and one woman are among the deceased victims, MPD confirmed. The remaining two victims in the hospital are both men. Police also said there may be more people injured and they ask them to come forward.
Mayor Muriel Bowser also spoke with authorities, according to MPD, Saturday night, about the possibility of adding more local crime prevention resources.

As of publishing, MPD reports that the 1300-1700 blocks of Good Hope Road between 13th and Fendall Streets are closed due to police activity.
