Apple announced a new series of devices at its Wednesday presentation, including a new Apple Watch, iPhone, and AirPods.
The Big Tech company announced it was releasing three new versions of the Apple Watch, two new iPhone versions, and an updated version of its AirPods. The new products will release in September to much fanfare.
Apple Watch Series 8 features an “always on” display and a brighter screen. However, Apple’s leaders emphasized several new medical features, including an expansion of menstrual cycle tracking features. The Apple Watch will track when women ovulate and account for medical deviations in relation to potential medical problems. While many tech companies have faced pressure over the sharing of data related to women’s health, the Apple Watch encrypts its cycle data and only allows it to be accessible via a biometric ID or passcode.

The Apple Watch will also implement two sensors that will allow it to track if someone ever ends up in a car crash and asks if the user wishes to call emergency services. The Apple Watch will also have an 18-hour battery life and a 36-hour life if used with a low-power mode.
The Apple Watch will be priced at $399 for those with GPS incorporated and $499 for those with cellular, and it will be available on Sept. 16. Apple also introduced the Apple Watch SE, a slightly lower-quality version of the Apple Watch. The Series 8 SE will start at $249 for a Watch with just GPS or $299 for a Watch with GPS and cellular.
Apple also announced the Apple Watch Ultra, a hardier version of the wearable designed for those who explore and adventure in harsher environments. The device has a 49 mm titanium case, a 36-hour battery, a second speaker, and a new button that offers “quick visible control” of the device. It also incorporates several tools for divers and runners to allow them to track relevant data for those who enjoy a more outdoor-centered lifestyle. The Apple Watch Ultra will cost $799 for GPS and cellular and will be available on Sept. 23.
The tech company also noted the new version of the AirPods Pro, which come with an H2 chip and software that provide “exceptional sound quality” through spatial audio. The AirPods Pro will partner with an iPhone’s camera to personalize the audio and offer improved active noise cancellation. The AirPods Pro will have six hours per charge and 30 hours total stored within an AirPods Pro charging case. The new AirPods Pro will cost $249 and be available on Sept. 23.
Apple introduced the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 and the 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Plus. The two devices will have “all-day battery life,” although the company did not specify what that entails. The iPhone will operate via the A15 Chip, six-core CPU, a 12-megapixel camera with a larger sensor, and 1.9-micron pixels with new details and additional video stabilization via “Action Mode.”
iPhones will now use “eSims” for connecting to the internet instead of physical SIM cards, allowing users to swap between mobile plans as needed. Apple also incorporated sensors to detect if a user is in a car crash, as well as emergency SOS via satellite. Off-the-grid users can text emergency services via satellite if things become dangerous. The new satellite service will be available starting in November. The iPhone 14 will start at $799, and the iPhone 14 Plus will start at $899. Both devices can be preordered on Friday and will be available on Sept. 16.

The device will use a 48-megapixel camera with a quad-pixel sensor and rely on an A16 bionic chip that is meant to be quicker than previous devices. The 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro will start at $999, while the Pro Max will start at $1099. Users can preorder the device on Friday, which will be available on Sept. 13.
