Kennedy took to X, formerly known as Twitter, and TikTok to share a video and a photo of Aispuro. He thanked his private security, Gavin de Becker and Associates, for acting quickly before Aispuro could approach Kennedy.

“Armed GDBA team members moved quickly to isolate and detain the man until LAPD arrived to make the arrest. I’m also grateful to LAPD for its rapid response,” Kennedy said. “I’m still entertaining a hope that President Biden will allow me Secret Service protection. I am the first presidential candidate in history to whom the White House has denied a request for protection.”

Kennedy’s father, Robert F. Kennedy, was assassinated during his own presidential campaign in 1968. At the time, RFK Jr. was only 14 years old.

The Secret Service is authorized to protect major presidential and vice presidential candidates and their spouses within 120 days of a general presidential election.

In the meantime, GDBA will continue to serve as Kennedy’s security detail. This incident was the first time Kennedy acknowledged the group by name, who besides providing security has also donated $4.5 million to a pro-Kennedy Super PAC.
