President Joe Biden continues to experience mild symptoms from his bout with COVID-19, according to his physician, who released a note describing a loose cough, deeper voice, and doses of Tylenol to stave off a low-grade fever.
The letter from Kevin O’Connor, Biden’s physician, noted a temperature of 99.4 degrees yesterday, which led to doses of acetaminophen in addition to the Paxlovid he started taking after his positive test.

“The president is tolerating treatment well,” the letter reads. “We will continue Paxlovid as planned. His symptoms will be treated supportively with oral hydration, acetaminophen, and the albuterol inhaler that he uses as needed.”
Biden did not have a fever initially after testing positive, but his temperature has returned to normal after taking the Tylenol.
Continuing symptoms are a runny nose and fatigue, an occasional “loose” cough, and a deeper voice. His pulse, blood pressure, heart rate and oxygen levels remain normal, per the letter.
The president normally takes two drugs to lower his cholesterol and blood pressure, which are being held during the Paxlovid treatment. O’Connor said Biden will take aspirin as an alternative blood thinner.
“As I stated previously, the president is fully vaccinated and twice boosted, so I anticipate that he will respond favorably, as most maximally protected patients do,” the letter reads. “There has been nothing in the course of his illness thus far which gives me cause to alter that initial expectation.”
Biden will stay in isolation until testing negative.
The positive test was announced Thursday morning. The president was scheduled to deliver remarks on gun violence in Pennsylvania later that day. His travel schedule has been canceled for the time being. He completed a trip to the Middle East last week.
Biden, 79, has had a protective bubble around him for most of the pandemic, including regular, proactive testing for himself and aides, as well as socially distanced meetings with staff whenever possible.

Vice President Kamala Harris tested positive in April. Her husband, Doug Emhoff, tested positive for the virus in March.
The White House held a public briefing Thursday afternoon with Jean-Pierre and COVID-19 Response Coordinator Ashish Jha. They reported that Biden first experienced symptoms, such as a runny nose, a dry cough, and some fatigue, Wednesday night.
