President Joe Biden returned to his home state of Delaware after delivering an address to the nation Thursday evening from the White House in which he called for sweeping gun control measures in the wake of a flurry of mass shootings.
Following a flight aboard Air Force One to Dover Air Force Base, the president’s motorcade drove to Biden’s residence in Rehoboth Beach and arrived at 10:31 p.m., the White House press pool reported. Accompanying Biden for the flight were a number of staff members, including chief of staff Ron Klain.
At the beach house this weekend, Biden will be celebrating with his wife, first lady Jill Biden, who is turning 71 on Friday, in a similar fashion to last year, according to the Cape Gazette.

Biden remains on pace to spend more time away from the White House than any of his recent predecessors, though it won’t be all fun and games this trip.
Biden is scheduled to receive his daily brief and deliver remarks on the May jobs report at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center on Friday morning.
