President Joe Biden was spotted continuing his time on the beach during a vacation that has lasted two weeks, raising questions over “who’s running the country.”
The president’s vacation started in mid-August, the day after he spoke at the Democratic National Convention’s first night while passing the torch over to Vice President Kamala Harris as the party’s 2024 presidential leading candidate. After this speech, Biden made his way to California to vacation for roughly a week, which was then followed by a vacation at his home at Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.

“Biden’s 16th day on the beach while the country’s in turmoil?” conservative commentator Bill Mitchell wrote on X. “That’s 532 days on vacation—40% of his presidency! Seriously, who’s running the country while he’s working on his tan?”

When asked about Biden’s activities since his DNC speech, the White House stated there is “no such thing as a presidential ‘vacation,’” according to CNN. Spokeswoman Saloni Sharma claimed that Biden is “always working wherever he goes.” Biden is expected to campaign on behalf of Harris on Monday before heading back to the White House.

While Biden has been seen lounging on the beach, former President Donald Trump, who is running for a second term, has held several rallies in multiple battleground states, netting the endorsement of former Independent presidential candidate Robert Kennedy Jr. during a visit to Arizona. Trump also visited the Arlington National Ceremony in Virginia last Monday to commemorate the 13 service members killed during the United States’s withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Trump took to Truth Social on Sunday to knock the “Incompetence” of Biden and Harris over the withdrawal, arguing the U.S. has “FOOLS in the White House.”
