Retiring Rep. Dan Kildee (D-MI) praised President Joe Biden‘s supporters as “thoughtful” and took a swipe at former President Donald Trump‘s supporters for treating him “like a religion.”

“President Biden supporters are more thoughtful, maybe more circumspect,” Kildee said Monday on Meet the Press NOW.

He continued on the 2024 election with a jab at Trump supporters.

“President Trump supporters treat this like a religion, like he’s a religious figure. There’s no dissuading them of his perfection,” he said.

He dismissed current polling between Biden and Trump.

“Their enthusiasm at this stage is always going to show up more pronounced than those of us who kind of sit back and weigh the equities before casting a ballot,” he said.

The Michigan lawmaker admitted that the 2024 election will be a “tough race” but cautioned voters not to “get too tangled up in recent polling.”

Despite Kildee’s warning, NBC News posted the blaring headline: “Biden’s polling is in more dangerous territory than Obama’s in 2011.”

An NBC News poll showed Trump beating Biden on a key younger demographic of voters under 35 by a margin of 46% to 42%.

“The polls keep getting worse for Biden,” Politico said in another headline over the weekend.
