The Clinton Foundation’s upcoming summit will be headlined by a live conversation between Pope Francis and former President Bill Clinton on various issues including climate change, the foundation announced Thursday.
The Clinton Global Initiative 2023 Meeting will begin Monday morning with a remote link conversation between the head of the Catholic Church and the former president, in a discussion that promises to cover a number of topics that the pope regularly comments on.

“[The meeting] will begin … with a special conversation between President Clinton and His Holiness Pope Francis via remote link, on what it takes to keep going on the most pressing global challenges of our time like climate change, the refugee crisis, the welfare of children, and the mission and projects of the Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital,” the foundation said in a press release.
The pope, while known to adhere to traditional Catholic teachings on contraception, abortion, and gender, has also delighted liberal figures with his impassioned advocacy on behalf of refugees and immigrants, as well as his calls for global action to combat climate change.
The pontiff previously met with Clinton in July, along with Alex Soros, the son of billionaire and liberal megadonor George Soros.
