The announcement was made in a statement from Blinken, obtained by the Washington Examiner. The newest aid package is the 23rd since August of last year and brings the total amount of U.S. military aid to Ukraine to an unprecedented $18.3 billion since the beginning of the Biden administration. The statement announcing the newest aid package lists Russia’s recent missile strike and the recent United Nations condemnation of Russia’s annexation of eastern Ukrainian territories as justification.
