Bruce Willis has been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia.
It was announced last year that the Die Hard, Moonlighting, Pulp Fiction, and The Sixth Sense actor had been diagnosed with aphasia.
In a Thursday statement by his family, signed “Emma, Demi, Rumer, Scout, Tallulah, Mabel, and Evelyn,” they said that the actor’s condition has worsened, leading to the “more specific diagnosis.”

“FTD is a cruel disease that many of us have never heard of and can strike anyone. For people under 60, FTD is the most common form of dementia, and because getting the diagnosis can take years, FTD is likely much more prevalent than we know,” the statement reads.
According to Willis’s family, there aren’t any treatments, which “we hope can change in the years ahead.”
The family further asked that “any media attention can be focused on shining a light on this disease that needs far more awareness and research.”
The statement was released by The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration.
“Our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities,” Willis’s ex-wife Demi Moore said last year after announcing his aphasia diagnosis. “As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him.”

Moore also posted a photo of the actor, telling fans that he would be stepping away from his career due to the diagnosis.
“As Bruce always says, ‘Live it up’ and together we plan to do just that,” she wrote.
