Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie thinks United States Attorney David Weiss “owes the American people an explanation” for his “incompetent” investigation into Hunter Biden.

Christie, who is a 2024 GOP presidential candidate, said he does not think it’s “time to move on” from the Hunter Biden case, adding that the conduct of the Justice Department and Weiss’s office “can’t be justified.”

HUNTER BIDEN INVESTIGATION: HERE ARE THE LEADS CONGRESS CAN FOLLOW AFTER WHISTLEBLOWER TESTIMONY

“It doesn’t matter whether you’re appointed by a Republican or a Democrat. If your work appears to be incompetent and inexplicable, you need to explain it so we can have confidence in our justice system.”

“I don’t care whether Mr. Weiss is a Republican or a Democrat. He owes the American people an explanation,” Christie continued.

Hunter Biden will appear in court on July 26 related to his plea deal on two misdemeanor tax offenses and a felony firearm offense. He agreed to plead guilty to the tax offenses to avert prosecution on the gun charge.

Congressional Republicans have decried the plea deal as a politicized move on behalf of the Justice Department, claiming there is a “two-tiered system of justice” going after Hunter Biden as opposed to former President Donald Trump.

“It does not take five years to investigate two misdemeanor tax counts and to dismiss a gun charge,” Christie said. “And we need to know what they were investigating and why these are the charges they concluded to.”

“This is not just any person — this is the son of the President of the United States. And while justice needs to be equal, it needs to be equal. And it doesn’t appear to me that this is the way to do it.”
