On the morning of President Joe Biden’s planned arrival in Israel, Christian and Jewish faith leaders published a letter calling on the United States to “take stronger action” on behalf of the Jewish state.
“Please call for the immediate and unconditional release of all of the 199 hostages and do not pressure Israel into a premature ceasefire,” the faith leaders wrote in a letter shared with the Washington Examiner to be published on page two of the Jerusalem Post on Wednesday.

“Israel must do all that is necessary to eliminate Hamas,” they continued. “It is not sufficient for Israel to degrade or even defeat this brutal terrorist regime, which oppresses its own people. Israel must completely destroy every Hamas terrorist, so that this evil is erased from human history.”
Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced on Monday that Biden would visit Israel, promising that the president will “reaffirm the United States’s solidarity with Israel and our ironclad commitment to its security.” The trip comes 10 days after Hamas first attacked Israel. Since then, the conflict has put world leaders on high alert for a possible escalation driven by Iran and Hezbollah.
“Mr. President, we need you to take stronger action on behalf of Israel,” the faith leaders wrote.

“If America pressures Israel into a ceasefire, Israel’s enemies will be emboldened and Israel imperiled, long into the future,” the leaders also said. “Mr. President, now is the time to send a message to terrorists who would threaten Israelis by reiterating your administration’s commitment to the Taylor Force Act, which disincentivizes terrorism against Israel and her people.”
Biden’s trip comes as Iran threatens to launch “preemptive action,” perhaps through Hezbollah, its terrorist proxy entrenched on Israel’s border with Lebanon, to constrain Israel’s plan to target Hamas.
