Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin returned on Sunday to watch his team take on the Cincinnati Bengals.

This is the first game Hamlin has been able to attend following his collapse on-field after suffering a cardiac arrest. The team was playing the Bengals at the time of his medical emergency.

“Welcome home, .@HamlinIsland,” wrote the team.

Last week, Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-NY) revealed that she called Hamlin to relay the prayers of New Yorkers for his swift recovery.

“This morning I spoke with @HamlinIsland and let him know that the hopes and prayers of 20 million New Yorkers have been with him throughout his recovery. His story is truly an inspiration. #LoveForDamar,” Hochul wrote.

If the Bills win in Sunday’s game, they will advance to the AFC championship on Jan 29. If they successfully beat the Kansas City Chiefs there, they would then advance to play in the Super Bowl against the NFC champion.

In the team’s first play in the game directly after Hamlin’s collapse, they posted a 96 yard kickoff return touchdown. That was only one of running back Nyheim Hines two kickoff return touchdowns that game.

Hamlin credited the play to God, responding in a string of tweets from the hospital.
